Welcome!
Hi, I’m Alana J. Peck, a sociologist, researcher, and creative dedicated to helping others uncover and embrace the complexity of their identities and stories. With a doctorate in sociology from Louisiana State University and a strong foundation from Xavier University of Louisiana, I’ve spent my career exploring topics like race, gender, inequality, and digital dating. My work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, and I’ve presented my research at conferences across the country.
I’ve honed my skills through years of teaching, mentoring, and collaborating with diverse communities. Whether as a professor teaching hybrid courses or as a researcher conducting program evaluations and market analysis, I bring depth, empathy, and curiosity to everything I do. My professional journey also includes leadership roles in program management and evaluation research, equipping me with the tools to navigate complex projects with clarity and purpose.
Beyond academia and consulting, I’ve cultivated a 12-year side hustle mastering the art of locs, particularly microlocs, connecting me to my community and celebrating the beauty of Black hair care. At home, I am a proud mother to a lively toddler boy, a dog, a cat, and a vibrant beta fish. My life is a blend of structured inquiry and creative expression, and I’m passionate about empowering others to embrace their multifaceted journeys.
